Alignment Issues Resulting in Incorrect Model in Recap Photo

I am hoping someone can help! After some of the fantastic results I have seen from the "Return to Antikythera" project from your software, I have been using a trial version of Recap Pro in order to create a 3D model for archaeological recording purposes. I have been trialling both this software and Agisoft Photoscan. I have now tried to create two versions of the same thing in Recap; one using 188 photos and one using 299 photos. Recap Pro Photo is by far preferable as it does not require as much computing power as Agisoft, but if I cannot get it to work accurately my decision will be made for me.

The model created with 188 photos had some blank areas so I carefully selected more photographs that would cover these areas. The model that I have downloaded (three times now to ensure there was not a download corruption) has stitched together even worse. So I now have a couple of questions before I decide if this product is accurate and suitable enough for my needs. The important part of the model is the cannons only, therefore I have cropped some of the other features in the the uploaded screen shots.

1 Is there any way to manually align the photographs?

2 What am I doing wrong?

I do not want to waste the last cloud credits that I have if I am doing something wrong and still have a chance of an acceptable result, so I really hope that someone can help me resolve this.

Hi toria68,

We don't support align photos manually.

By "blank area", do you mean the grey areas on the cannon?

Did you submit this as "Aeria" or "Object" project?

Also is it convenient for you to share the 3D model and photos to us?
