Yes, that's correct. If you have a former Delcam product you can ignore the announcement about increases to maintenance prices.

The only change you need to be aware of is that multi-year maintenance plans cannot be renewed - maintenance plans can only be renewed on a single year basis.

Hope this helps clear up any confusion.

Hi Brian,

You should be able to access your Autodesk account at the following website.

https://accounts.autodesk.com/

From there you can access your account and all the downloads you are entitled to. Also you can create support cases with any questions you may have about the software or your account.

Hope this helps!

Seems like there is a common issue assessing updates - dare I ask that like in past a notification would be posted on the forum when an update or SP was available for download ?

Really there is no need to get the notification. As long as you are set up within your companies Autodesk account you can get the notification from the desktop app or online at your Autodesk account - I prefer going online to my Autodesk account. Once there you can see all your available products and simply click on them to see if there is an update to them.

Take care,

Interesting email I received yesterday.

I can only imagine that our costs will increase, but I will have to get some firm pricing before I scream too loudly. Not sure how the boss is going to feel about this. We've been on maintenance since DUCT 5 in 1993, and I'd hate to have to switch to something else because of this new Autodesk policy.

It looks like we have four options:

Stick with our perpetual licenses with ongoing increase in pricing.

Switch to subscription license, which I believe increases our costs

Stop paying and lock in PowerMill and PowerSHAPE at Version 2017

Switch to other software.

I've really tried to stay positive with the purchase of Delcam by Autodesk, but this doesn't look like a good thing.

Anyone else get this email?

Thoughts?

Here is the relevant part of the email:

With our move to subscription, one thing has become clear to us—managing two business models (subscriptions and maintenance plans) is quite costly. To continue supporting maintenance, beginning May 7, 2017, renewal prices will increase by 5% in 2017, 10% in 2018, and 20% in 2019. Also, you should be aware that maintenance plans can now only be renewed for one year at a time.

Now that we’ve shared the direction we’re heading, we’d like to talk to you about a special offer to help you join us on the path toward subscription—one that recognizes your loyalty and the value of your previous investments. Beginning June 2017, you’ll be able to move your products on a maintenance plan to a subscription for a discounted price. This discount will decrease by 5% in 2018 and another 5% in 2019, so the earlier you switch to a subscription, the less it will cost—and the more you’ll save compared to those who wait to move, or choose to stay on maintenance. When you make the switch, you’ll also be able to lock in your discounted price for up to three years and continue to receive discounted pricing for as long as you renew.

Hi @stdpattern and fellow PowerShape-rs,

Thanks for the post. We are aware of a communication that was sent out to our customers recently. While this did mention some changes relating to maintenance and subscription prices, it's worth pointing out that this also included the following statement relating to users of the former Delcam products....

Autodesk recently announced maintenance plan price increases for a number of products. Please note, this announcement does NOT include maintenance plan price increases in 2017 for:

· Autodesk® ArtCAM®

· Autodesk® FeatureCAM®

· Autodesk® PowerInspect®

· Autodesk® PowerMill®

· Autodesk® PowerShape®

In February 2017, new software offerings of the above products became available through subscription only. Learn more about subscribing here.

As part of our move to subscription, multi-year maintenance plans for all Autodesk products, including former Delcam products, are no longer available. Maintenance plans can still be renewed one year at a time.

In summary, any customers using the former Delcam products alone, ARE NOT impacted by the changes to subscription or maintenance prices. The only change that does affect these customers is the withdrawal of the ability to purchase multi-year maintenance plans.

I hope this helps clarify the situation and apologise for any confusion this may have caused.
