Hi @Godrej&Boyce,

Thank you for contacting Autodesk Community Forum..

Autodesk PowerShape gives freedom to design an electrode in by 3 ways as-

1. Selecting faces (which defines the electrode geometry)-

You can select a set of faces and go into electrode wizard. PowerShape automatically extracts geometry for electrode from selected faces. You can dynamically edit electrode solid model before defining the electrode properties and feature in electrode wizard.

2. Extracting Electrode by Solid Core Extraction-

You can exact solid geometry in Autodesk PowerShape using Solid Core extraction wizard before going into Electrode Wizard. Further you can design an electrode by selecting previously extracted solid.

3. Selecting An Existing solid.

If user have a solid model ready in PowerShape model area then also they can design an electrode by selecting solid and entering the electrode Wizard in Autodesk PowerShape.

Users can export electrodes in *.Trode file format. Trode file is compact archive file format which contains whole information as –

Electrode model (DGK/IGES/Parasolid depending upon EDM Machine)

General Assembly diagram

Detail Diagram

Html containing all information required at machine shop

Inspection Data defined within PowerShape design wizard

EDM Script

Corrected EDM Script

Prior starting the electrode design in Autodesk PowerShape 2018, designer can predefined their own set of blank used for electrodes.

Users also can predefined their own custom electrode holder generally they for day today electrode machining using xml file and saving model data for custom electrode holders in the PowerShape standard parts directly.

Inside electrode design itself, designer defines the desired output format for EDM script depending upon EDM machine they have at their end in machine shop. Designer can customize their own electrode script for EDM Machine with respective their EDM output requirements inside PowerShape and there is guide available how can they customize EDM Scrip within PowerShape.

Please refer the youtube channel elaborating Autodesk Powershape Electrode overview-

Hope this helps. If above suggested information resolves your query completely, then please click on the ACCEPT AS SOLUTION button from my post.
