Does anyone know the expression to get the total number of holes being drilled? I'm using this parameter to identify the holes but I would like to get a total number:

Hello @markdiGXTYE

the hole num is not even a predefined variable in AMPPU.

It's just a counter created by the post author.

The numbers of holes in an operation is not passed by PowerMill to the post engine.

And there is no easy way to determine this, at the start of the operation.

Having a comment Hole 1 on 10 cannot be created.

Would there be any other way you could think of to determine how many x,y moves there were or how many blocks or counters there were in a drilling cycle?

I have seen posts where the hole count is used to prompt for tip checks and to check hole size.

Yeah I would like to use this for tool life management. The machine will keep track of how many holes were drilled with a certain tool. I tried to put your expression in but it still wouldn't count the holes, it just puts a 0. I may not have things set right though. Does this work for you?

After some thought, I believe you should be able to capture this inside PowerMill through a macro. That information can then be sent to the post and listed in the output, whoever your tool management stuff is being output.
