Change tool holder without re-calculation of toolpath.

Hi,

Autodesk, we need this feature!

It astounds me that you cannot change the toolholder without having to re calculate toolpaths that said holder is assigned to?

The holder is not used in calculation of the toolpath itself, purely for collision checking.

We are constantly changing tool holders as we have a vast amount of different sizes etc.

Having to recalculate each toolpath when doing so is a massive problem.

Some toolpaths have been edited or created in a way that are a pain and time consuming to recalculate.

Surely the tool holder can be changed without effecting the toolpath.

copy tool, replace its holder, change tool of the toolpath, make collision and gouge check, be happy.

Hi,

Just to expand on what kukelyk said...

With the desired toolpath ACTIVE:

Copy the tool
Change the holder in the new tool
Make sure the new tool is ACTIVE
Right click over the toolpath > EDIT > REPLACE TOOL
Verify the toolpath

No need to re-calculate toolpath.

Hi mhall0405.

It is a macro that performs tool change without recalculation from the calculated tool path.

1）Please correct 'tool.XML'.
　　Call 'ReplaceTool.mac' and execute.
　　Please put 'downmenu.inc' 'CollisonLib.inc' in the position where it can be included.

2）Display the context menu on the tool you want to replace.

3）A list of unnecessary toolpaths is displayed in the dialog.
　　Please Check On the tool path you want to change.
　　(Checking on top is the same as choosing all the lists)

4）A dialog will appear after replacement. Please do a gouge check if necessary.

I am sorry, all in Japanese.

You can right click on any toolpath and go to edit and on the fly-out menu click "replace tool". This will replace the tool of the toolpath with the active tool. This will only work if the tool cutting geometry is identical.
