Thank you for your reply,

If that is truly how this is designed to work, it needs to be redesigned.

As you can see in the following picture however, I am well away from the corner at this point and there is no chance of collision but it is still tilted. If you look at some of the tool axis when it is down by the horizontal surface, it will surely collide.

I didn't indicate for it to gouge check, collision check or to smooth the axis, therefore it should not do these things.

This behavior has only begun in recent versions of PowerMill.

I have tested how this works by removing the surfaces after the pattern has been embedded. Results were the same. Is the pattern embedding different than it used to be? I'm embedding by closest point.

What can I do to make it work the way it used to? I really need it to stay normal to the surfaces.

My Embedded Pattern Finish does not have the expected tool axis. I have a pattern embedded on a vert wall and horizontal surface. I'm using tool axis of lead lean both set to zero. Gouge check and Collision avoidance are off. I expect the tool axis to be perpendicular to the surfaces, but they are not.

Ive tried different tool types and ignoring the model, all with the same result.

What can I do to remedy this?

Thanks for raising this issue on Autodesk community forum.

Please refer attached snap; I think this is as designed that at convex and concave corners too is tilting and trying to maintain normal to surface mode. At concave corners the action will takes place little early considering safe distance (smoothing distance). I have attached my sample project too.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks,

Thanks for pointing out the issue. I think this need to be check me on exact model.

Is it possible for you to upload the sample project, so that I can evaluate ? I think we need to re-modeled the surface.
