In Powersinspect 2020 I am finding an issue where for example I have set the head position within the program to A45/B180 but once i've manually played the alignment the position I've set has changed, in this particular case it changed to A45/B-180. Other times it has changed to other weird angles that do not make sense. At first I thought had 'automatically orientate' on but this is not the case.

Is anyone else fining they have this issue and if so how to fix?

Hello,

A quick answer - most likely you need to uncheck the "Use alignment to automatically adjust probe head angles" in the options dialog under "CNC Replay" section:

What happens is that PowerInspect is designed to cope with situations when someone would have programmed a part for one orientation on the machine, but for whatever reason the actual part is positioned differently, i.e. rotated by 90 or 180 degrees "around Z". In order it to work properly you need to make sure that the machine model and head orientation is representative of what you have on your machine. It can be set on the "Machine" tab:

So, if you do not have the Machine parameters configured as on the real machine, the adjustment by the alignment makes all the calculations incorrect.

Tip: Don't forget to press the "Save as machine defaults" so it is used for new sessions, it might be prudent to restart to make sure that you do not accidentally override it again.

A side comment - you can also use the Initial Alignment to set the expected location of a part on CMM bed. If the location is stable enough (e.g. if you are using some sort of fixture) then it is possible to play the alignment items in CNC as well.

I hope it helps.

Thank you for that information. This is the first time I have experienced an update with this software (only been using for 2 years) so some of the options had been turned back on.

Again thank you very much
