When you have the Cad file aligned in Revit to your model, you can then use the create Coordinate system tool with those 4 control pts, by clicking on the center of each one and entering in what the Coordinates are. This shared coordinate system that you create can then be used when you export your points from Revit so that they match to the coordinate system in use out in field.

I got a cad file and 4 control points from surveyor. How I can use it in my revit file or even just doing it in cad to make sure it will work on site.

Is this correct?
procedure.
1. I link the cad file on revit then align the cad file with the revit.
2. clock the coordinates (point layout) and key in the coordinate points
given to me and named it 50-1002 coordinates.
3. create control points 4ft from the grid lines I can use.
4. then made points for my conduits.
5.Then exporting- i use the E,N,Z (XYZ) for point exporter, decimal feet,
export dwg, site coordinate system( 50-1002 coordinates i made) and click
export.
6. Once I click export dwg.-which one to use for the export profile (APL
DEFAULT, PROJECT INTERNAL, SHARED?)

7.coordinate system- use Project or shared coordinate for exported DWG?
I used the APL DEFAULT AND PROJECT COORDINATE and the DWG file is just on a
regular XYZ layout, does it matter or should it show the right angle
supposed to be when exported. But the control points 50 and 10002 that I
made just to duplicate the coordinates 50 and 10002 seemed to be the same
numbers (coordinates) that were given.
Will the orientation of the exported cad matter on site? or as long the
point is correct it should be fine?

Thanks,

For the DWG you would want it to match the coordinate system you used for exporting the points, so Shared, but since the DWG export does not allow you to select between multiple shared coordinate systems, you would want to make sure that your "50-1002 Coordinates" is set to the be the current shared coordinate system before getting to this point.

Orientation should not mater onsite as long as the points are correct.

Thanks,

thanks for the input..another question. imports: whats the sequencing, established the coordinates first with the given coodinates and cad file, then you can import the rest of the points from gc? or you can actually import the coordinates first then use it to establish the coordinates?

Thanks again....how i wish theres clearer tutorial on whats the process supposed to be.

Sequencing depends on whether you are already using something like state plane coordinates in Revit/ACAD and then what coordinate system you are receiving the points in from your GC or Project surveyors. If you already have a matching coordinate system, then you can just directly import using it, if not then you would need something in the model to align against, e.g. existing structure elements at a known position, that you can create a coordinate system against. It's very dependent on the GC's workflow.

One good source of tutorials is Dzan Ta's videos on Youtube, give them a look: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLI8epm_d8YVh-RJv_D0IpAKfNBxaasUdG

Thanks,
