CADWorx object enabler install in Design Review?

I need to get a sales engineer set up with Design Review so that she can see, print, and mark-up ACAD 2015 files. Problem is that we also use CADWorx 2015.

Do I install the same object enabler in her Design Review install? It is needed to see the CADWorx generated solids instead of the wireframe.

TIA,

John Petty

RVS, Bryan, TX

Design Review doesn't natively open DWG files; rather it does a save-as (with DWG TrueView, if I remember correctly) to a 3D DWF file in the temp folder and then opens that. Since DR doesn't read DWG files it doesn't support the object enabler architecture, third-party or otherwise.

Design Review is also effectively obsolete software at this point - development was halted several years back.

I'd recommend a different process: manually create the 3D DWF files using DWG TrueView (which *does* support object enablers). These can be opened in Navisworks Freedom. You might also consider using the full Navisworks "ecosystem" with users regularly publishing NWD files for use by others.

Thanks! I will do without the DR and just stick with TV. And CADWorx just plain sucks rotten eggs.

Happy friday the 13th !

No, not tongue-in-cheek. Just aggravation with our implementation, really. We only use it to get correct sized pipe/elbows/tees. That's probably only 5% of what CADWorx is capable of and some insist on sticking with 2010. But ...

We will be changing over to Solid Edge soon, so old habits will be left behind. Too bad we have to change to a PITA history-based software to get past old methods. I very much prefer direct-editing of the solids. But Solid Edge is adding more direct-editing "synchronous" capability all the time.
