Hello,

Using Boolean (https://help.autodesk.com/view/NETF/2025/ENU/?guid=GUID-D3568395-987A-48F2-9EDC-0B888B6A568E😞

Take the cavity shell only and invert it

Use Boolean to subtract from it the lattice mesh

Invert the cavity shell again

Merge cavity shell with the solid original, either using the dedicated command (https://help.autodesk.com/view/NETF/2025/ENU/?guid=GUID-35809251-32C2-4C6A-BCCA-64B8B847391B) or using repair: With the solid original open in repair, drag the cavity shell part in the project tree onto the repair node

Additionally, in repair you have very granular access to the triangle mesh. Here, with tools like Split off self-intersections, manual deletion of excess shells, and Stitch triangles, you can do something similar to Boolean intersecting and unifying. That is a matter of preference.

Best regards,

Creating a skin with Hollow in the lattice command creates an unnecessary parts. Also, I get an error that breaks the object when I do the generate combine. Please refer to my picture

Hello,

Skin generation in Netfabb's latticing tools has limitations that make it highly dependent on quality of input mesh. Meshes should be closed and wrapped (form only a single shell), triangles should be as regular as practically possible, skin thickness values must be significantly smaller than shell corners or turns, otherwise heavy self-intersections like in your example are likely.

You will need some or more pre- and post-processing steps to work around these limitations. For example:

Apply the Wrap repair action to the mesh and remesh using uniform or adaptive triangle sizes

Generate the shell mesh separately (Modify > Generate shell) and use that instead of a shell body in the lattice component

Use tools like Boolean intersection and repair to resolve self-intersections and trim off excess mesh

Kind regards,

Steffen

Hello, thank you very much for your response. If it's not too much trouble, could I kindly ask for a more detailed explanation regarding the part you mentioned:

Use tools like Boolean intersection and repair to resolve self-intersections and trim off excess mesh
