Create shell with defines paramenter possible?

Hi all,

I need some assistance or confirmation if its not possible in NetFabb.

I'd like to generate a shell (in the picture hollow shell) but using the deepest point in the cavity as highest point of the shell overriding the initial 1mm threshold for the shell.

See picture of a sectional cut of the situation with 1mm hollow shell and in black a roughly what I want to archive.

Any advise is appreciated,

Welcome to the Netfabb forum!

There's no way to do this during generation of the hollowing shell in Netfabb.

That said, you could cut the hollowing shell down to the desired height after generation.

thanks for getting back to me, just to clarify this as I have written my initial post at 'stupid' hour and may not have been perfectly clear.

I don't really care how the bottom looks like even if its all open which would be even better to create an open frame if that's possible.

The top part is where it gets interesting I need to have it filled from the lowest point upwards.

I'm still not quite sure what you mean with "deepest point of cavity", "highest point of shell", "overriding the initial threshold" in your picture, but going by your original description and the black ellipse, I suppose you could always run a smoothing pass or more on the internal shell.

Additionally, if you preferred an open body with a sweeped cross-section of an upside-down letter U, then you could always cut the entire lower volume off, just above the cavity's floor surface, and then extrude the cut surfaces downwards.
