VISUAL STUDIO.NET PROGRAMMING BEGINNER

Hello,

I am just starting to learn the Visual Basic.net programming language.

I am lookingfor a free download of Visual Studio.net, something I can use to write simple programs and compile, just to learn with for now. So far, the Microsoft downloads site has a trainging kit which appears to be documentation and video content, not a compiler interface. Other downloads do not appear to be the real deal or components I am unfamiliar. Is there likely a free version available and if so, what is recommended and site to locate?
