Auto CAD 2014- Model space and paper space tab missing from command bar

The model space and paper space tab has got missing from the command bar as well as the drawing preferences like o-snap.

how do I gat them back?

This forum is about AutoCAD programming. For general use of AutoCAD, if you post here, you might get more responses, and probably faster, too.

Having said that, regarding to missing Model/Layout tab (at bottom of AutoCAD window), enter command "Options", go to tab "Display", locate group box "Layout elements", check check-box "Display Layout and Model tabls".

As for "drawing preferences", I believe you refer to the small icon buttons on AutoCAD status bar. They can be set to show, or not to show, by clicking somewhere at the end of the status bar (depending on your AutoCAD versions).

You can always hit "F1" key and search AutoCAD Help document to find solution for this kind of questions easily and quickly.
