we are using AutoCAD 3D MAP 2021 for batch publishing of drawings at central server, we have developed a windows application which checks drawings to be publish and then trigger/launch the AutoCAD and send publish command to AutoCAD with required data. here we need to keep the application running in RDP mode so that AutoCAD can be launched and publish the drawings under specific user account (here we activated AutoCAD through network license manager ). we want to know if AutoCAD can lunched using windows service and run under background on Win server 2016, so we don't need to logged IN.

Do not use full desktop AutoCAD as unattended server process. Use accoreconsole.exe instead; or better yet, use Autodesk's Forge cloud services.

can we customize or send commands to accoreconsole.exe to convert DWG layout/set some plotting settings default , regenerate the drawings etc.

AutoCAD needs a display, applications started as service do not have a (valid) display interface, that's why AutoCAD can't be used this way ... accoreconsole is, as already mentioned, the way to go.

I would also be careful about licensing rules, using something as service on a service means you have not just one user, you have multiple users, so you might not need just one license!

I do see there are some limitation on accoreconsole.exe, on licensing , we already have a multi user licenses.
