Hi there, I am a bit of a newbie to navisworks and i was wondering the best way to set up a rule in navisworks where insulation is completely ignored from my clash tests without turning it off?

Many thanks

That's highly dependent on the software used to create the model. Is this Revit? Plant3D? Or something else?

Thank you, while this is helpful, i am still left with insulation left on in my navisworks file and i'm still struggling to find a way to ignore this from my clash tests without turning it off

Any other ideas?

Many thanks

In most cases, you would build your clash tests by search set. Can you create search criteria which allows you to select the host objects independently of the insulation object(s) with it?

Hello @lwhite,

I am doing a quick check-in with you to see if you were helped by any of the comments below. I would agree 100% with the comment by @dgorsman, in that creating individual search sets for ONLY your materials (i.e. piping, piping fittings, duct, duct fittings, etc.) and disregarding the insulation material would be the way to go about performing the clash detection that you described above.

If any of the information you received was helpful, feel free to hit "Accept Solution". If you would like any further assistance, I would be more than happy to help you!
