We are required to deliver them as a packaged model. And this is the protocol.

From what I understand NWD is the only way to deliver the coordinated Model as a package.

Cheers, K

Hi,

I was wondering if the experts here could throw some light on the best practices to my following workflow:

We have a NWD file in which the RVT+IFC models are imported and we perform a set of Clash Detection bi-tri weekly.

What would be the best was to replace these RVT+IFC models within the NWD and re-run the tests?

I am definitely missing something here like Reloading links within Revit. (Also replacing the linked files with a new Revit file with a different name, "Reload from").

Hope I was able to communicate my issue. I look forward to your suggestions.

Cheers, K

It is better to use NWF as a working file with clash tests and a folder with NWC models exported. In this case you can replace NWC with new versions and continue to work with Clashes in NWF.
In case if you have Clash Tests in NWD you can export them into .XML, then create new federated model and import Tests again.
Replacing the models inside NWD is impossible, cause it works like package.

Hi

Why are you using NWD and not NWF? You can't Refresh NWD file.

Usually, the workflow is as follows:

Export models to NWC or IFC;

Append exported models to a new Nawisworks file and save as "[filename].NWF";

Conduct tests;

Publish results;

Correct models;

Re-export models to NWC or IFC;

Open '[filename].NFW' & Refresh

Repeat steps 3-5.

Mmmh, If I understand this right, you mean to say export the tests as .xml and then append them to a new NWF file along with IFC links right?

You can import Clash Tests from .XML to any type of file - NWD or NWF.
The same thing you can do with Sets.

But better to use .NWF in your work, as I said.
If you are required to deliver model as .NWD, you can work with .NWF, but Save it As .NWD when you need to send it to client. And then continue work with .NWF.

Always use NWF as coordination file and consider XML , HTML or NWD as a format for publishing the results of test.
