Hello everyone

I recently export from the navisworks Clash report with XML format. in the Navisworks Clash is 6038 but in the XML into Excel is 12077. Why? It also imports additional information. Navisworks Version is 2020.

Hi there,

I had exactly the same problem with 2020 version, and all of my data and images in final report repeated twice! I’v tried to get this report in different format, but the results were the same!
Let me know if you have any ideas or solutions, please!!!!

If you look closely at the XML file, there is a column called GUID. This contains a unique ID for each clash. At the end of each row for each GUID, there are a couple of columns that contain unique data about the elements associated with the clash. This is the reason why you will see more line items than Navisworks. The same number of clashes though.

You generally cannot open raw XML data in Excel as it contains no formatting information to map the contents to a flat table. For best results there would be a processing element at the start of the file pointing to an XSL transform file containing instructions to select, filter, and organize the data to something more appropriate. As an example my drawing standards files each contain a pointer to an XSL transform which converts the raw data to neatly organized HTML tables which open in Excel looking the same way.
