Switching back and forth to another open program freezes Navisworks Manage 2020

When I have Navisworks Manage 2020 open on my computer along with a few other programs such as AutoCAD and Bluebeam, switching back and forth between Navisworks and one of the other open programs causes my Navisworks to freeze up. This does not happen all of the time but quite frequently.

I've got the same problem on Navisworks 2019.

I use different design softwares, and every time I click on the Navisworks tab on the task bar to go back on the program, it hangs between 10 and 20 seconds and during that time I cannot do anything on the program (it freezes graphically and the cursor shows as busy), I just have to wait for it to revert back to normal. I'm losing productivity and this is very annoying when I am presenting solutions to my customers and have to make everyone wait.

Is there a solution or an option to look at to prevent this from happening?

Suggestion to avoid crashing if you use the Vault add-on:
Turn the Vault tab off and only turn it back on when you're ready to immediately check the file in to Vault. To turn the Vault tab off, open the options editor, go to Tools -> Vault and uncheck "Show in User Interface".
Use the Vault Client itself to check files out etc., and only turn the Vault tab back on when you want to check a file in and turn it off as soon as they have checked the file in. Checking files in will be slow and you will have to wait for it to complete, but at least it won't lock up when presenting to a client.

Hi @Toddsking

The program (Navisworks) doesn't crash but just hangs for about 20 seconds. I do not use Valut, it's not installed on my computer.

Any idea?

Does it happen with just one specific model or all models? Are you appending a 3D scan to your model?

I have not had a specific problem like that. I thought it might have been a large model or type of 3D scan file being appended but it doesn't sound like that in your case. Does your computer meet the recommended system requirements for running Navisworks?

I have a Lenovo Yoga X1 with DirectX 12.0 installed, 8GB RAM, Intel i5-7300. It's an Intel Graphic HD620 card.

Shader version 5.1

OpenGL version 4.6

OpenCL version 2.1

Graphic Output Protocol 9.0.1061

I'm only navigating the models with Navisworks so I suppose this configuration should be sufficient.

You should have a minimum of 32GB of RAM even if you are just navigating the models.

You are correct. I was just told that when I am appending 3D scans into 3D models. Sorry, I am not sure what the problem would be.
