Hello all,

Does anyone know whether it is possible to have a 'split view' open and when you navigate around the model in one view, the other view follows the same movement/direction you are navigating in?

Many thanks in advance.

Regards

James

hi @Anonymous

I think it is not possible in Navisworks. But the workaround should be by using the viewpoints. Whenever you're on a particular view, save a viewpoint then apply it to the other view.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Dar

Ah, that's a shame, it would be useful.

Thank you very much for your reply Dar, it's greatly appreciated.

Regards

James

We don't have anything like this in Navisworks at the moment. Just trying to understand what the actual use-case would be. Would you want say two cameras in different locations, but both respond to the same transform when moving one of them? And what navigation modes would you expect it to work with? I could understand how the "Walk" too might work, but not something like the Rotate tool.

Hi MPriestman,

Thank you for your reply.

I have found myself in a couple of situations using Navis where overlaying two boldly coloured architectural models bamboozled my client and so wondered whether the side by side twin window function is possible. The actual case 'use' would be to have twin windows or 'split' view on screen, an old arch model in one and an updated arch model in another, as you walk through the building turning this way or that both windows follow the same motion. Say for example you decided to navigate through the right hand side window (if split vertically) and decide to walk forward, turn right and look up, the left hand window would follow exactly the same movement/motion, obviously you would have to start in the same location in the model and perhaps lock both views to one another somehow and then have a wonder around the model.

I just wondered whether there was an ability to do this in Navisworks at the moment, I am aware there are other methods of achieving the same result in the review process of a model, but I just wondered that's all.

Thank you for your reply, I hope my explanation makes sense?

Regards

James
