Looks like something I used to experience some time back, with ProSteel/ProStructures, this could be similar (or at least something to check). Like Plant 3D there's an object enabler required for Navisworks to understand the shapes when it opens a DWG model. If the object enabler is not there, or is not installed properly, it displays the default appearance (wireframe). At the time, there was a DWG Reader version setting in the Navisworks Options, but these days they've reduced the number of choices there. It doesn't end there though - if the computer doing this is picking up the last changes to the model files it updates the NWC files with the wireframe data so everyone will still see wireframe until those NWC files are rebuilt.

The solution was fairly difficult: first, after kicking everyone out of Navisworks, deleting all the NWC files in the project. Then a grindingly thorough review of the computer of everyone who could be working on the project, ensuring the correct version of object enabler was installed, correct version of Navisworks was being used, and correct DWG loader setting in Options was being used. Nobody gets to use Navisworks Simulate/Manage (Freedom is OK) until they get checked - period. Turned out there was a combination of all these factors: some using Navisworks without an OE, some using an older release, some using Navisworks Options with a wrong DWG Reader version.

We have Plant 3d models, and currently use a nwf for the project. When the users are accessing the nwf file during the work day, suddenly with no explanation the Navis model will go from shaded to lines. I can switch between full shaded and the other options, but it will not render full shade anymore in the current session unless I shutdown the session and reopen it again. All the users are running the same laptops with the same version of the driver. for the T1000 card. I try and stay with the certified version from the Autodesk site, unless required to update. I am having a difficult time because i can not replicate the issue on my laptop and not even one is having this issue.
