You did not mention what software was originally used to model the plant. What I would do (right or wrong) is:

1. See if you can export out your models from the authoring software to Plant North.

2. If #1 is not an option, select all the models in the selection tree and rotate the entire project as needed to go from True North to Plant North. If you need to control the exact center location of the rotation, specify the transform from center location.

Orientating the XYZ coordinates to suit the model?

Hi,

I have a big Process Plant in Navisworks, but its orientation is set to True North (Y) with Z being elevation (so correct in both cases), rather than Plant North (CAD Y). So everything is rotated clockwise slightly in Plan (TOP) View.
So, like this, when I measure along a Conveyor or Duct that are, in reality longitudinal to Plant North (CAD Y), I do not get the correct X, Y, and Z measurements.

How do I orientate the Navisworks Coordinates to be able to be square to a 'face' of a building or duct or equipment (like in AustoCAD), so I get real measurements of buildings, equipment, etc....?
Note: Plant North is 23 degrees rotated from Plant North

Any help would be appreciated

Hi, and many thanks for your prompt reply.

It was "made" in software prior to me starting at the company, so it could have been done in a number of packages, depending on what the client specified. Also, I don't have enough time to redo the models in their native software, just to take measurements for checking another layout....the method has to be "quick and easy"

On your second comment, which sounded promising....how do you "rotate" the Navisworks model, exactly, when all components have been 'selected'? Can it be quickly and easily undone to revert the model back to how it was after taking measurements, etc?
Must you know the "amount" of rotation in exact number (ie 23.5 degrees for instance), or can it be set to a surface, similar to AutoCAD, etc? 95% of building and conveyors are in line with Plant North (Cad Y) and Plant East (Cad X), which would have made more sense to keep the model in Navisworks set to Plant North...

Cheers.

When you have the items selected, the Item Tools tab will appear. There is a rotate option. You can also right-click on the files, select Override Itema, and then Override Transform

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/navisworks-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2019/ENU/Navisworks/files/GUID-54C53B2B-5C3C-4CC7-A67B-765A6A490C0C-htm.html
