I have experienced the same problem with NW 2014 from time to time but it appears to be worse with 2015. For me this mostly happens with DWF or DWFx files but it's also happened with certain model elements (assemblies) from AutoCAD DWG files.

I recently had an experience with moving some piping in the X direction to the end of two cabinets rather than in the middle and moving the cabinets together in a plain AutoCAD 2014 3D model which then looked fine in Navisworks 2015. After exporting DWF and a DWFx file (tried both), the position of the cabinets and piping reverted to their original position when opened in Navisworks. It seems like certain position data isn't being correctly stored (or read into) Navisworks as some models are being integrated or saved in NWD files. The original DWG looked fine.

Often I find I can "fix" the problem by creating NWDs of certain model elements more than once when all of the individual model elements look right and then append them into my Federated model. This is all rework and it doesn't work consistently, which is frustrating.

I've also had DWG models in a Federated model "move" slightly from save to save in a Navisworks 2015 NWF.

Hey all,

I am having an issue with Navisworks Manage 2015. I have an NWF set up with all models aligned natively without any transforms used. The appended models are DWFs export from a Federated Revit Model. NWC exports don't work...Completely different topic and bringing the Revit Models directly into Navisworks was not working, again a completely different topic.

So the issue is when I publish the NWD from this NWF the appended models shift in the NWD. Alignments are lost. I haven't seen shift occur in NWDs before NWM 2015. We are running tests now to determine if doing a Save As versus publish will make a difference as well as checking to see if the misalignment matches the Native Revit Models individual "project" cordinate systems.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Erik

Sorry for the long delay in response to this. It looks like the issue was being created from Revit. We had a Federated Revit model where we were exporting all models from. Natively, each model's internal coordinate system matched. So we backed up a step and exported the DWFs directly from each of the "component" models. This worked. We were lucky here, where all of the designers were using the same internal coordinate system instead of shared coordinates. I think we may be back to a bad spot if we need to export DWFs from Revit using shared coordinates instead of internal.
