Can't load xxxxx.iam because of an internal error

I am unable to open Inventor models due to this error. Attached screendump.

Navisworks Manage 2014 sp2 on Windows 8.1

Inventor 2014 Vault pro 2014

Options => filereaders => Active project is set to the correct path and ipj.

Any ideas on what's wrong?

Tried reinstall NavisWorks - did'nt help.

Edit: both ipt and iam have this issue.

Did you try taking that part out of the assembly and re-appending it?

Sorry, I must have bin unclear. I cannot append anything at all. Not even a simple ipt.

Save the assembly as a part in Inventor then export it out as a dwf or IFC or something. Then append to navis.

I'd rather get the program to work properly, than use workarounds.

I just saw on your error that you're using manage.

If you don't want to use a work around and continue to not get work done...that's on you.

Because Inventor 2014 is released at the same time or even a bit later than Navisworks 2014, it could be the case that Navisworks can only read ipt files of Inventor 2013 and below.
If you cannot "save as" your IPT in a lower format, try downloading the 30-day trial of Navisworks 2016 to see if that can open your IPT's. Then Navisworks 2016 can save as in the 2014 NWD file fomat.

@J450NP13: I'm not paying this kind of money for Navisworks NOT to work properly. Using dwf's, you will loose the dynamic update as the Inventorparts changes.

Both Inventor 2014 and Navisworks Manage 2014 are included in my package.
Product Design Suite Ultimate 2014.

I hear ya. But you have to do what you have to do. In the meantime before it is fixed...which it won't because you're already two versions back...the work around works...one more export isn't going to kill you.

I can definitely say that this issue has nothing to do with being on 2014.
I have about 25 colleagues with the exact same setup who isn't experiencing this error. I think I'll do a total uninstall of Navisworks manage and retry from scratch.

Is it possibly something with that part file? Is it just a plane?

Are you only trying to append that prt or is it a prt in an assembly?

DWF and DWG Works fine.
IAM, IPT and STP is not working.

Are you modeling these Inventor models in Inventor or importing them into Inventor and saving them in Inventor format?

I just run into the same error with Navisworks 2016 and Inventor 2016.
