Navisworks Manage 2015 animation export issues

Dear all,

Having exported shorter parts of the same animation previously, I have decided to let it work overnight exporting the whole thing, around 10 minutes, (1280 x 1080), 30 FPS, 16x antialias. This morning, previewing the video (AVI) with VLC and DivX, it is a big mess. The screen is sectioned in four areas, kind of showing different views and displaying the wrong colors. This isn`t the 1st time this happens. Works with shorter animations but not with the whole film.

Should I export each part as a shorter animation and then join them with another software? Should I go for exporting HD images and then creating a video with them (imagine 10 min video at 30 FPS and 16x antialias.... will be a lifelong lasting job?)

Any recommendations? Attached is an image of the video diplaying wrong colors and screen being sectioned in 4.

yes, you should export each part as a shorter animation and then join them with another software. Look at any TV program. Around each 30 sec the viewpoint is changed or another scene is started. We all have become used to this, even if we do not notice. A walktrough of 3 minutes of longer will create a boring viewing experience

Thanks for that. I`ve realized that is the way to go about it. No sense in trying to export the whole thing in one piece. A part from that, you`ve got more control over each single animation, in case anything goes wrong, you can re-do just that bit.
Anyway, I am exporting each scene to PNG images at the moment, and compiling a video in Windows Movie Maker. Was using 30 FPS but I`m going to lower it to 25 FPS, because I`m guessing, for a site walkthrough you don`t need that much FPS. It is a pity, however, that you can`t actually export rendered video in Naviswork anymore.

I have found that I get much smoother animations by exporting your animation to JPEG (yes, you will have hundreds - so plan ahead and use a folder just for the jpegs), then using another software (I use Movie Studio) to bring those images together as a movie. So, each picture is ideally 1/30 second (to achieve your 30 Frames Per Second).

I have to say I think to have noticed the same. Videos appear to be smoother when exported to JPEGs and then the video is created, that when I export the AVI directly from Naviswork.
Will investigate a bit further.

Use PNG, guys. JPEG is lossy, it looks OK when taking pictures with a camera since we live in an analog world, but for animation you want something nearly lossless. Plus, PNG format supports alpha channel so its easier to feed the frames into another program (currently I use Blender) for compositing.
