[Feature request] Allow Roamer.exe to generate cache (NWC) only

Running this command:

& 'C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Simulate 2024\Roamer.exe' -log "C:\Temp\NW.log" -OpenFile "C:\Temp\file.stp" -SaveFile "C:\Temp\file.nwc" -NoGui

The immediate warning I get is:

No plugin exists that will save to file.nwc

The .nwf is generated anyway in most cases but that should not be said I think?

This is a check to see if a plugin exists to alter the actions being executed. As the message suggests "No plugin exists..." and therefore it continues.

Message is expected.

Turns out that the correct way to do it is to convert to NWF and the NWC will be generated alongside:

& 'C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Simulate 2024\Roamer.exe' -log "C:\Temp\NW.log" -OpenFile "C:\Temp\file.stp" -SaveFile "C:\Temp\file.nwf" -NoGui

Then delete the .nwf if not needed, but maybe the option should exist to skip the nwf and nwd altogether.

Are you sure it always continues? I think sometimes it exits without generating the cache. I suggest an improvement to generate it directly without the warning message.

Can you provide a use case for only generating an NWC file? As it suggests this is a cache file and not intended for all workflows.

It is already possible to create a Cache file directly with Roamer.exe. To generate cache (NWC) use the following command;

"D:\Autodesk\Navisworks\Manage\2024\Navisworks Manage 2024\Roamer.exe" -CreateCache "D:\Autodesk\Navisworks\Demo models\Revit\QA_TEST_FILES\Revit.RVT"

The use case is pretty simple. I'm dealing with big files which can be modified by a third party, then I batch import them to Navisworks, but I don't want to wait 3 hours when I want to Append them. So I want to have the nwc cache built in advance so importing the step file is as quick as importing a nwd. Because I don't need to Append them or can't just when they are shared.

But being able to create the nwf is fair enough because the nwc is created along the way.

I don't want to convert step to nwd directly because I want to make clear in the nwf project that the file came from a step file and not a nwd, not sure if that's understandable.
