Navisworks quantification doesn't read model properties

Hello, before exposing my problem I would like to welcome and thanks to everybody. Sorry for my bad english.

I have a problem in Naviswork with quantification. I've created a road model in Civil 3D and i've exported a solid into Naviswork, when I start the quantification it doesn't read the correct properties of the model, as attached image. I've setted metric in Civil and meters in Quantification set-up, why does problem persist?

First, install the navisworks exporters the same version as your navisworks

2: use the nwcout command in c3d to export a Nwc

3: click on the solid in navisworks and look at the properties and make sure the volume is present as a property.
4: Map that property in quantitication.

Hello, thanks a lot for your solution.

I did all everything you're saying(1,2,3), but it still doesn't work.

The stranger thing is that in Naviswork all the solid's properties are correct (GUID, volume) but when i set and run the quantification shows all '0' values.

Now i'm trying to install the english version and retry as is suggested here: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/navisworks-forum/no-quantities-in-quantification/m-p/7445689/highlight/true#M15556

About point 4. Are you saying that I have to map all properties for each element in the model(base,subBase,Pave,guardrail, street lamps..)?

This is just a small portion of the corridor.

Does the property have units? The result of the property must be an integer. ( number)

So 23m3 is nog good
The property must show 23

Yes it does, i've attached an image.

I've just tried with both english version(Navisworks and C3D) but quantities are still '0'.

Look the second image, Volume is 93.750 in properties, but in quantification (lenght,width,..) are still 0.

I have found there are still significant weaknesses in QTO which I believe are due to the inability of QTO to access ANY Navisworks property field and value. For some unknown reason the underlying xml file which provides the link between the workbook and the Navisworks property fields seem to only work with certain fields. You can read this post I made a while back:

The end result in that post is the recommendation to export what data you can get in the QTO workbook into Excel for manipulation. That's a totally unacceptable solution adn in fact no solution at all.

Sorry this is not a solution, but I'd recommend if it doesn't work immediately with your models, not to waste anymore time and look to a third party solution such as eTakeoff that integrates with Sage estimating. Not sure that even can access all Navisworks properties though.

Hello, thanks for your solutions.

I had an unknow problem with interoperability between C3D and Navisworks.

I tried making an elementary surface with just a closed pline in C3D to test if all surface's properties i need will be exported in NW(3D Area, 2DArea). Then NWCOUT to open the file in Navisworks and set a QTO to estimate quantities.

Well, no properties in NW as next image. Just solid's volume is shown.

I partially solved installing latest versions of C3D e NW.

This reasearch is for my civil engineering's thesis, i have to make a road model in C3D and estimate quantities in NW.

And if it were possible, to create an intelligent model able to give road costs in Navisworks quantification.

I did that customizing XML property files as is explayned here

Later i customized quantities takeoffproperties.xml to made new item (cost), then customize takeoffpropertyMap1.xml to to allow the software read properties i need.

Finally i tried two ways to trasform quantities to costs in NW's QTO, the first is linking an Excel's file to the model, the other is giving extended data properties in Civil 3D.

Second way is better, this is an image

I thought interoperability was easier between Autodesk softwares. Anyway we are lucky to have the possibility to have a free version for students and to learn very interesting things.

I Have the same problem, my quantification shows 0 value.
