Hello,

I am a novice Navisworks user and am having issues with my clash detective settings. I have "highlight all clashes" and "use item colors" selected in my display settings, as well as "dim other" and "transparent dimming".

For this example, I am running a clash report between Steel and MEPF files.

When looking at the clash results overview with the settings stated above, there are pieces of geometry colored, as if they are clashes, though they are clearly not. Oftentimes, it is a very random piece of geometry, like an elbow fitting in ductwork or an insulation layer on piping, several inches or feet away from a true clash, if indeed there was a clash to begin with.

This makes it extremely difficult and time consuming to go through all clashes and try to weed out those that are unimportant.

My hard tolerance is set to 0", so it doesn't make sense to me that a clash is being shown when there is clearly space between the objects, in some cases, several inches.

On other clash reports, the detector highlights/colors the wrong object of the clash. For example, in Fire Sprinkler vs. Mechanical, the FS pipe is hitting a piece of ductwork in an area, but the FS pipe that is part of the clash is not highlighted. However, the victaulic fittings on that pipe are highlighted, several feet down the line, and are not in conflict with anything themselves.

Any ideas on how to get these problems resolved?

Please do ask a product expert to take a look.

I've uploaded the relevant NWF.

Thanks.

Michael,

Do you need each individual reference file (structural, mech, plumb, elec)? If so, can I attach them indivisually, or will the NWF only work if you have them saved in the same location that I do?

Thank you for your reply. In this case you could take the file and create an NWD to then run clash and test on my end, or you can upload all link files and I could link those up on my local to then test and relay what I found. Either or, we could identify first the workflow and what you are seeing, and then steps moving forward. Thank you and we look forward to your reply.

Thank you for your video and post. In this case, I am not seeing the disturbance in the color representation when running these clashes as outlined in your video. I am still seeing my red and green selection for the clash groups, along with blue as my selected item color (when you select an object in the view).

In regards to the selections in the clashes referenced, there are multiple instances, and verifying the location (where the clash will be identified later in the run, is important as well).

To help identify where the issue may lie I have include a screen shot of the settings that I have present in my clash tools, along with my Navisworks xml options files to load and test and compare overall results. Please let me know how this worked out and if this helped. Thank you and we look forward to your reply.

Were you able to identify that in my video, objects that are NOT clashing with others were highlighted? I focused on a few particular objects in the video to hopefully prove that point.

My settings seem identical to yours with the exception that I have selected to use object colors rather than red and green (default).

The xml file you sent is way over my head.... I don't know what that is, let alone where to start using that to help solve this problem.

Do you guys ever do phone conversations or GoTo meetings to help customers? I am available in that manner if so, and would prefer it.

Thanks,

Trevor

Hi all,

I am having a totally opposite issue than Trevorg. Items detected as a clash are shown as resolved but the clash is still existing.

We use Navisworks Manage 2014. The test run several Revit models exported as NWC.

test details below:

We have tried to manually set as "new/active/review" but every time the test is re-run the clash turns into "Resolved".

Please could you put some light into this issue?

Many thanks.

Please see below an example of a resolved clash:
