Hi,

I’m new in Navisworks API. I have to use this software for my thesis. Basically I have to create an animation automatically from a excel file and a Revit model. In the excel file I have the coordinates XYZ for each object in each phase of construction. The objects are named by a Revit parameter.

My first question is if it’s possible to use Navisworks API to do an animation. After, if it’s possible, I think that the workflow can be to search an object by parameter and to assign the displacement and rotation with de differences of the coordinates. It’s possible?

Finally, can someone recommend me how to start in the Navisworks API?. I've started with Visual Studio and C #, but I'd like to know if another editor or another language is better.

Thanks!!

As far as I'm concerned, Navisworks API can't be used for animation handling because Animator is not exposed through API. Regarding your second question - C# and Visual Studio are the best combo (at least to me). You can learn API through documentation, SDK and ADN DevBlog.

Hi, I search the question about animator and I found that your question is same with mine. Could you please share your knowledge about your first question with me? Thank you very much!
