[.NET] Update Property Value, (non-user defined)

From this forum post from 2015, How to Delete modify non user defined properties from navis model item, it suggests that it is not possible to update or set a non-user defined property.

I am wondering if this is still true with the 2018 API (COM and/or .NET).? If we are still unable to do so, would there be another approach?

For example, could I somehow re-create the NWD, (NWF?) on the fly and adjust the properties as I re-create the item? Is there anything else I can consider?
