I bit the bullet and downloaded/installed visual studio community and opened the project.

I hit build, and it created the .dll in the debug folder, but could not move it to the Navisworks Plugin folder, perhaps a permissions issue.

Anyway, I manually moved the AppInfo.ADSK.dll to the plugins folder.

I start Navisworks Manage 2019, and there is "NO" add-ins tab anywhere!!

ARRRGGGGG!!!

I have Navisworks Manage 2019 on a windows 10 system.

Trying to learn the API, so I downloaded the Training Labs and installed Visual Studio Code.

Had a bunch of reference problems, finally resolved them!

Now, How do I build the project in Visual Studio Code, No build button?

You have to have a running and licensed version of Navisworks on the pc first - then you install the sdk which you download from Autodesk. The nuget package at https://www.nuget.org/packages/Navisworks-2019-x64-API/ is not an official package from Autodesk as far as I'm aware - I could be wrong
Br
Ulrik

Hi,

You have to place the AppInfo.ADSK.dll in a folder named the same as the dll ( AppInfo.ADSK in this case) inside the plugins folder.

Also if you have an Xaml file you need to place it in the same folder as your dll and in a language folder ( for example, if your Navisworks is set to English : C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Manage 2020\Plugins\AppInfo.ADSK\en-EN).

Note : if you want to do this automatically when you build your solution, you need to run MS visual studio as ADMIN and set the build folder to your plugin folder (for example : C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Navisworks Manage 2020\Plugins\AppInfo.ADSK ). Also you can set a post build event to copy the necessary files to their necessary locations (such as the xam file).

Hope this helps you.

Best regards.

THANK YOU!!! Somehow in all the documentation, making a folder with the same name of the dll was just not mentioned.
