Cannot change thickness manually in Dual Domain mesh MPI2016, windows 8.1

I cannot seem to be able to change the thickness manually in a DD mesh in MPI 2016. Does anyone else have this problem?

Not as important but also no active lines when choosing elements with bounding box or using measuring tool.

Hello,

There is an identified bug related to the thickness assignement in DD feature in 2016 release.

We have a fix which will be released with the next Service pack.

Not aware of the active lines issue, does it happen also with 2015 on same machine ?

I would recommend an update of graphic driver.

Thanks for the report on the bug.

It is a brand new machine so I never had 2015 installed. It is a Lenovo Z70 with Nvidia GeForce 840M graphics.

Hello,

if a new machine, install the latest graphics driver from provider.

Then you can try this setting:

Open the graphics card control panel
Hover over Desktop space, right-click and select NVIDIA Control Panel or open Control Panel and select NVIDIA Control Panel
In NVIDIA Control Panel, under the "3D Settings" choose "Manage 3D settings" in the left menu
On the "Global Settings" tab change the Global presets from the "Base Profile" to "3D App - Visual Simulation"

Note: the steps needs to be repeated if updating driver, as installing an update will reset.

Thanks Berndt. Even though Nvidia is listed in the specs and exists on the machine, dxdiag reveals that "Intel HD graphics 5500" is being used.

Please advise.

i hava a problem with the original nvidia 3d setting, and i set the 3d setting as so and it's ok then.

However, if i set the "3D setting" in the "global setting", there are problems with other applications.

is there a solution on the "application setting" in nvidia controla panel 3D setting?

how?

Hi,

you can use the Nvidia Control Panel to set preferred graphics processor:

It seems as even if this is set, the dxdiag.exe returns default Intel HD Graphics.

The workaround for this could be:
If you in "Global Settings" tab change the Global presets from the "Base Profile" to "3D App - Visual Simulation",
and see issues for other applications, you probably need to record the "3D App - Visual Simulation" settings, and then
return to your original preferred settings.

Then in move to tab "Program Settings", select Synergy.exe in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Moldflow Synergy 2016\bin (or other previous release)
select preferred graphics processor to Nvidia.
Then specify the setting as of recorded for "3D App - Visual Simulation" settings, and Apply

Or maybe vice versa, if issues for other applications, use tab "Program Settings" for other applications.

Berndt, That worked! I can now see active lines when measuring or using the bounding box. However, there seems to be another issue with the Quick Access Tool Bar being washed out. It is OK when I move it below the ribbon.

See attached for comparison.....

Hi Tom,

had a look on a laptop with Nvidia Quadro K4100M - it shows quick access toolbar washed out, using Windows Aero Themes

When looking on a desktop, it looks okay, using Windows Aero Themes.

Switched to Windows 7 Basic on laptop, and then it shows quick access toolbar as expected at top of Synergy.

Seems to be related to graphics card / driver for laptop.

Think you need to use the workaround found for the moment (good catch! - works for me too when using Windows Aero Themes.)

Will investigate this a bit more.

Berndt, This also resulted in no cross hairs when in select mode or gate location mode. These things are not difficult to work around, just wanted to make you aware.

I cannot repeat that though. It looks okay with gate location crosshair and selection on the laptop I tested on. So a difference here.

(I am on Windows 7 x64, and K4100M.)

Which driver release are you on?

Forget the x hairs one for now. I brought another model in and it seems OK (xhairs show up). Sorry - some weird stuff going on. Still have the washed out tool bar.

I tested on a laptop with Windows 7 x64, single card Nvidia Quadro 2000M, and the quick access toolbar looks okay for Windows Aero Theme.

So this seems to be related to laptop with built-in Intel grahpics card and additional Nvidia.

The suggested workarounds at this stage:

1.) Show quick access toolbar below the ribbon

2.) Change Windows Aero Theme to Basic
