Hi,

I don't think you should have weight has a single target for process condition optimization.
The basic aim of packing is to get a uniform volumetric shrinkage over the part.

Now, there will always be a different comparing cad model weight = cad model volume x solid density vs

simulation volume and weight as simulations starts with a melt (melt density) to fill a cavity,

and where weight is related to volume melt entered into cavity, packing pressure, and how long packing can be applied when part is freezing and runners are freezing.

So there is not a 1:1 of cad volume x solid density and simulated weight due to number of reasons.

Further, normally we do not do a linear shrink compensation of simulation model.
This is done for mold, hence affecting volume to fill.
This has an affect of simulated weight as well. Keep this in mind.

I had a discussion here, which might help:

Weight difference( Solidworks Vs Moldflow)

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Cavity weight

Hi, My question is related to cavity weight arrived in MF.

I've a CAD model along with its mass. CAD will provide mass just with Density(as entered) and Volume. Now, can i take this mass as dead line and check in MF with different combination of Inj. pressure & packing profile so that i achieve CAD mass?

Is this right approach to find suitable process parameters? Or is it logical that CAD mass should be matched with MF cavity mass provided i use same density?

Best Regards,

Madhan.

Hi Madhan

I will suggest you to add solid density mentioned in PVT properties from moldlfow on your CAD platform ,and check weight . if you need to relate with MF result , we usually follow same method and add solid density for JT Files(Team center) as a method of checking most of case we find equaling weight
