Hi @lance.xi ,
as I understand this is for 3D tetra mesh.

I think you need to split the whole body part of cavity and runner, and make two bodies:
one for cavity and one for runner, and then make it an assembly.

Then use fine mesh at interface runner to cavity interface, and precise match.
Then nodes at interface can then be merged.

Have a look at described workflow here:
Clear boundaries between 3D Hot Runner and Part
Even if described for hot runner, same method could be applied for cold runner.

Worth a try, I believe.

Hope this helps.
Regards,
Berndt

Dear Community,

I am looking help for "cold runner" setting.

As the cold runner part is tailor-designed in CAD software, the runner part and the package part is a whole body. The current approach is that: after mesh generation, select the runner part mesh elements and assign it as a new part, and change the property to "cold runner".

As the selection of mesh elements in MoldFlow is a little difficult and time consuming, I am just wondering that whether we can define runner part and package part as two parts while one body in CAD software and can be passed to MoldFlow?

Please advise.

Thanks!

Dear Berndt,

I tried. But I can only find the "precise mesh", while no function for "global merge".

It's due to the version of MoldFlow?

Please advise.

the Global Merge tool has been around for long time.

To use this tool, go to Mesh tab > Mesh Repair panel > Global Merge.
