@zoltan.tolmacs

Hi Zoltan,
first, I think this ended up in Moldflow Adviser forum, instead of Moldflow Insight, right?

Anyway, I had a look:
Polyscope Xiran SO2315 is not in Moldflow 2025
Polyscope Xiran SO2315 is not in Moldflow 2023
It could have been removed in an revision updated of a previous release.
Or, was it provided by supplier beside the official database?

If material data is removed like this, there are a couple of options:
1) Check with lab when and if removed:
Autodesk Moldflow Plastics Lab
mplmoldflow@autodesk.com

2) Contact material supplier and request material data file for analysis.
I also noted Vertellus acquired Polyscope 2022.
This might have affected materials available in database.

3) There is no way to export udb-file from a study.

4) Workaround that might work for you:
Use a study with Polyscope Xiran SO2315.
Copy the study.
Clean all geometry, remove unused properties, use Global Merge to Squeeze entity Labels only.
This will make an empty study with Polyscope Xiran SO2315.
Save study.
Make a copy of study as backup.
Add the study or model to the empty study with Polyscope Xiran SO2315. It will hold the material data.

5) If you still have an old installation with the specific material you could copy "Polyscope Polymers.21000.udb" from
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Moldflow Synergy 20xx\data\udb
to "Polyscope Polymers MF2021.21000.udb" to your local udb folder in C:\Users\userid\Documents\My AMI 20xx Projects\udb
The copy the specific grade to a separate udb-file.
Now, some properties might not work for simulation, such as shrinkage data and CRIMS as if tweaks it needs CRIMS to be refitted.

I noted that there is similar name "The injection-moldable polymer, called XILOY SO2315 SMA/PMMA"

Another way could be to reinstall an older release of Moldflow that as the grade, and copy the udb-file, as previously suggested

Hope this helps to resolve your issue.

Dear All!

I lost Polyscope Xiran SO2315 material from the database.

I use Insight Premium 2021.2 (I know, I know, not the latest & greatest, but I'm not the decision-maker at my company)

I ran about 30 analyses using this grade before (certainly in 2022 and maybe in 2023 too).

However, it seems it was deleted from the database since then.

I'm at the very same 2021 version, no upgrades, no other MF versions are installed either.

This grade is a relatively new one, it was introduced ~5 years ago.

I tried to look it up in various ways, but I'm still not able to find it in the database.

I have a lot of questions:

1 - is it just me? (I don't have access to other MF versions to verify)

2 - was it really removed?

3 - is there a way to put it back if I have older studies that have it?

Thanks,

Zoltan

Dear Berndt,

Wow, I did not expect such a prompt and detailed answer, thanks a lot!

So, the SO2315 material data was not provided by the manufacturer, I'm sure it was present in the database in the 2021 version. Might have been removed when I upgraded to v.2021.2 but I'm not sure as this happened years ago.

I also found a similar workaround using and older study to save the material data, but I was hoping for a more seamless solution. Anyway, this is fine for now.

Thanks,

Zoltan

Generally speaking @zoltan.tolmacs, materials typically do not accidentally get dropped. We periodically ask material suppliers to review their materials in the public database. They may ask to drop a material from the database or make changes to it. This can because of a multitude of reasons; the material is no longer sold, or the material was renamed or ... the material is now sold by another company (under a different name?). When the supplier asked for the material to be removed or altered, we attempt to honor the quest and remove/change the material for the next available release.

For this particular case, I'm not sure what the reason was, and it may not be easy to retrieve the background for this at this stage.
