topic Random/brownian noise pattern? in Meshmixer Forum

I'm trying to make a cylindrical texture roller that will mimic the texture of a ball of aluminum foil (random spikey bits). I can't seem to find what I'm looking for in Edit>Make Pattern. Is there a way to do this easily?

MakePattern generates volume patterns (e.g. to generate an infill pattern for the object...). It does not generate some noise pattern on the surface. Think that's what you're looking for...

You might try SCULPT in Surface mode (note the toggle at top of the SCULPT fly-out) and use a Stencil to apply the noise manually on a high density mesh. You can create such a stencil in any image editing software.

MM does not own some feature to generate and apply a "displacement-" or "bump"-map as you may find it in other software .
