No echo from double3 attributes in the script editor

I've come across something weird that I can't fix myself (didn't find a setting, nor anything on the internet, nor anything on the ad forums).

I get no echo whatsoever from double3 type attributes from shading nodes. Other nodes and/or other attribute types return proper echo.

* With and without echo all commands. (attribute changes return a 'result' echo even with echo all = off).

* all 'suppress' options are off

* output is set to both (MEL + Python)

For example, a polySphere node will return echo on any attr change. Transform changes also return echo.

My problem is with shading nodes. For example - a simple lambert. If I change the diffuse amount (a single float value) - there's echo. If I change the diffuse color (a double3 value) or the opacity color etc - there's no echo.

This is Maya 2018.3 on Win 10.

Is there a setting that I'm missing? Maybe I've changed something without realizing?

Update - deleting the maya prefs does not help.
