Mel script on a hotkey won't repeat last command when pressing g?

Hi there, so I've created a hotkey which runs a simple mel script to create a cube. When I press g on the keyboard to repeat last command it has no memory of me creating the cube and instead repeats some older action I did before the cube was created. Is there some special code I need to put into my mel script so when I press the hotkey it gets into the command que? I've tried making it a global proc and a bunch of other stuff, but hokeys just seem to be completely ignored by the last action que.

So there is a checkbox that is very well hidden in the hotkey editor. I actually didn't know this was there until I checked the repeatLast commands documentation.
