So, I'm trying to make a model that has 2D facial features (eyes & mouth), and I want this model to be able to swap out various lip flaps so that I can make its 2D mouth appear to speak. The best example I can give on what I'm looking to replicate is how the characters in the game Wonderful 101 speak (their mouths aren't built into the model, and they instead rapidly swap between a few different textures).

How can I set up my models to be able to do something similar, and does this have a proper name for what this technique is called? I haven't been able to find a tutorial on such a thing, so my guess is that I just don't know what any of terminology involved.
