https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/maya-modeling-forum/paint-weight-tool-malfunction-doesn-t-affect-skin-or-forgets/m-p/5486997#M25516 <P>Hello community!</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>I'm in need of some assistance. &nbsp;I've just made my model, rigged it, and skinned it with bind smooth skin. &nbsp;I'm now in the phase of weight painting it for motion. &nbsp;I select the weight paint tool and I'm shown the weight map per joint in the hierachy. &nbsp;However 1 of 2 things happens next...</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>1. Maya 2015 won't let me edit the weight map. &nbsp;That is to say, when I click and drag my coursor over the skin with the options of "mode: paint" and "paint operation: add" the black spaces won't turn white and the white spaces won't turn black. &nbsp;It has no effect on the skin.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>If I right click the model with the selection arrow and then choose the weight paint tool, I'm able to edit the skin as I see fit... however,&nbsp;</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>2. &nbsp;When I'm able to actually paint weights, if I click anywhere off the model or select a new joint, it forgets my weight painting sesson completely. &nbsp;Not even "undo" will bring back the edited skin areas.</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>Am I missing something, like a save changes button?</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>Thanks,</P><P>&nbsp;</P><P>-Casey</P> Wed, 28 Jan 2015 22:50:20 GMT Anonymous 2015-01-28T22:50:20Z
