Hello guys.

Look at these steps of mine:

1. Create a plane with some edge loops

2. Extrude those faces inside

3. Inset those faces a little bit in order to make some support edges...

4. Apply the Smooth and this is the result... (crap)

Do you see the shape? It's a rounded rectangle.

I'd like to achieve a perfect square when I smooth.

Any tip? =(

I know, this is a very basic problem...

I attached the model to this thread!

I drew the green lines to indicate a way to hold the corners tight, although this is not the best method still, it is just a quick solution, subdvision modeling requires experience and studying wireframe topology from professional modelers...there's great topics on this at Polycount.com.

Hi! @Anonymous .

My method is different from @damaggio but I hope it helps.
First, use Plane of Subdivision Width1 and Subdivision Height1.
Next, do the Extrude you were doing. Then, switch between the 3 and 1 keys and use Insert Edge Loop to create an edge flow like the screen.
That way you can easily create a nice square window frame.

Just say something important. When extruding from a window frame to create a wall, don't select and extrude the whole week. If it is the lower side patiently, select only the lower edge and Extrude,
If left, select only the left edge and extrude. Let's work like this. Finally, please merge just in case.

corner.badgood
