how are your units setup in the prerferences? by default it should be cm so 0.002 is 0.02mm!

anyway it´s usually just a display precision issue. it still takes your 0.002 into account. you can change the display of the channel box precision by going to "edit > settings >change precision" on top of the channel box. it also changes the IVE display presicion.

hey everyone,

I'm kinda new to Maya and I have a problem with the polypipe. I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I'm trying to model a toothbrush mug with real measurements for an uni assigment. (this wonderful IKEA thingy here: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/images/products/enudden-mug-white__0275648_PE413894_S4.JPG) On the bottom there's a thin part that's just 2mm thick.

So I try to create a PolyPipe with 0.002 thickness and it always automatically snaps back to 0.010. That's way too big!

What am I doing wrong? Is there anything I need to change in the settings? I tried but I guess I'm unable to locate what I need to change on my own. I'm not an English native so all these technical terms in the menu are a little overwhelming too...

If it's not possible to change that, is there another way how I can model the mug with the exact measurements? The measurements are a must for the assignment.

Also, remember that you can always model in large units, then scale the final model down to match the real world units.

The actual issue of not being able to set the value you want is something you'll come across in Maya a lot. Most values for nodes like that have some limitations to them, but you can override them if you use and expression or a direct connection from another attribute that can go that low.

I've detailed this a bit more in this thread.
