Hi guys,

Is there a way to straighten selected UV Edges without using Straighten UVs (as it is super slow)?

In the main viewport I would change transformation to component and scale down to 0 along axis of choice using the manipulator.

The same method for UV would do.

Thanks,

DS

"Is there a way to straighten selected UV Edges without using Straighten UVs (as it is super slow)?

That's how you can do in the UV editor, if you have still an issue I'll be glad to provide more information.

This is what happens following your suggestions.

It's an exemplary low poly object, so for this I would use Straighten UVs ofc.

But for i.e. subdivided set of pillows, the script takes minutes to run.

I did a similar mesh, it straightens immediately no delay. Are you trying to make the UV shell totally square?

How did you straighten edges on the first gif?

Demonstrating Straighten UVs script on such mesh is pointless in the context of my enquiry, as deliberately I don't want to use it.

It fails with more dense meshes due its speed.

Both gifs were done with UV Editor >Modify>Straighten Uvs default settings.

In heavier meshes there could be a good delay so it depends on the object , sometimes the result is not desirable and more adjustments or unfolds need to be done .

I agree, the demonstration would be much better on the actual object in question.

One of our Forum users @Anonymous makes some great UV scripts if you need additional tools.
