Hi everyone,

I just downloaded Maya 2017. I'm in Viewport 2.0. I have a character that has multiple meshes to it. When I click on a mesh (in object mode) and my cursor is in the middle of the face it selects the geometry behind it. If I select the edge or the vertex area in object mode) it selects said mesh.

I've tried messing around with the selection settings but they all seem to be adjusting the selection around the mesh and not the mesh itself.

I'm on a 2012 Mac Pro with ATI Radeon HD 5770 with the latest OS.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Craig

Hi!

I can confirm this behavior with Viewport 2.0.

Solution: In Camera Attributes set your Far Clip Plane to a lower value or switch to a legacy Viewport.

Thanks for the reply I'll play around with the far clip plane and post my results. The amount of geometry I have in my scene is butter smooth with Viewport 2.0 and the new graphics rendering method. But to be able to use the legacy viewport I have to change the graphics rendering method. After that the scene chugs so much it becomes un-usable.

Thank you,

Craig

Can confirm this works!!! Have to adjust the far clip plane. I guess I'm lucky I'm not working on a large environment. Still needs a real fix.
