Hello, I am new in Maya and I am just getting started following a tutorial series. I am stuck in a step where I am beginning to model a spaceship, creating a basic shape from a cube and adding some edge loops, and moving and scaling some vertexs using symmetry,

I have to extrude the sides to create the wings, but the extrude tool doesn't work as it should be. If I add some thickness (a value of 28, as is shown in the tutorial) it extrudes the sides inside instead of outside. If I try to use the manipulators, the extrude moves the opposite as I move the manipulator. (see the video)

I have checked normal facing, deleted object history, started the project from scratch three times, deleted maya foldes preferences... Nothing works. I have made a short clip to show what happens.

Any help is good! Thank you!

It looks like reversed normals, but i'm not sure. Please upload a scene-file with this object and full history, so i can test it out.

Hi!

sebastian_freigang is right. The Scale Attributes of pCube1 (Scale X, Scale Y and Scale Z) have a negative value. If you correct this the problem is gone.
