Many thanks, Brent!! Just what I needed!

I know that my questions aren't very exciting, but... I'm an old Blender user and I'm switching to Maya, which is such a huge product that I'll need some time to get the feel of it.

Hi, all!

As you can see, I have selected an edge in this object. Now, how can I display its world (or local) cordinates, and possibly update them? I have looked in the Internet, but it seems that something has changed in Maya 2017's UI.

Thanks.

And ( let's save time ) the same questions apply regardind the size or dimensions of the selection's bounding box.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I'm not sure what you think has changed in Maya's U. Perhaps you are referring to the absolute/relative transform fields at the top of the Maya interface? This section is collapsed by default but you can click on the little bar to expand it.

Here are some other ways to modify things more precisely or numerically.

The move options in the Modeling Toolkit panel (on the right side of the main window) can be used to change the position of selected components or turn on step snapping.

The Polygons tab in Windows > Editors > Component Editor can be used to modify the individual vertices of a component selection.

Finally, for modifying the bounding box size of an object can be done using the Modify > Transformation Tools > Universal Manipulator. Just click on number displayed next to each dimension and type in a new value.

--
