Change shortcut for Track-Tool

Hello folks,

is there a possibility to change the shortcut for the Track-Tool? By default you can use it while pressing "Alt" + "Middle Mouse" button. I want to change it to a side button on my Logitech G502 because I think it's much more comfortable then the middle mouse button.

I am using the 2018 version of Maya and I couldn't change it in the "Hotkey Editor"

Hi,

Go to the Logitech website and download software for your particular mouse. That should allow you to remap the button to act like a middle-mouse button. Then you will be able to hold Alt and that button to pan the camera.

I have the Logitech MX Master and I did a similar customization to make the button behind the wheel function as a middle-mouse button. Note: In my mouse only certain buttons can be remapped to middle-mouse so hopefully the button you are interested in can be remapped. The other neat thing is you can setup different mappings for different applications.

it seems like this is the only option to change the Track-Tool. I did it now and it worked with the Logitech software.

I want to be able to remap the keys so that I can use the TumbleTool with RMB only (without pressing alt+rmb) AND

I want to be able to use the middle-mouse button for the Track-Tool without using ALT + MMB.

I just want to press MMB for TrackTool.

Then, I want to remap what used to be RMB to ALT + RMB

Alt key navigation is not customizable in Maya.

On windows there are utilities like X-mouse that could be used to accomplish this but I think it would be a bad idea because middle and right button are used for many other things in Maya.

So you would quickly run into other issues that would stop you from working effectively. e.g. no access to right-click menus, not being able to access important tool functionality unless you come up with another way to trigger plain-old middle/right buttons.

The other issue with this level of customization is that you will make your working environment so specialized that it will be impossible for you to use Maya on any computer that doesn't have all your OS-level customizations applied.

In particular, freelancers have told me in the past they like to work with vanilla setups as much as possible so they don't have to spend a lot of time customizing their environment as they move between companies/jobs.

Really? 2018 year and Alt key navigation is not customizable in Maya. Why? Why you don't develop Maya more?

Okay, can i chage hotkeys to keyboard "A", so that it is like a mouse middle? I say about press and release tool.
