topic Lock vertices in Maya Modeling Forum

I want to lock down, or exclude, certain vertices so that when I move other vertices around nearby with soft selection the locked vertices don't move.

I found this page that explains why Autodesk removed Locked Selection from the Modeling Toolkit: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/maya/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Lock-Selected-is-missing-from-the-Modeling-Toolkit.html

But then it explains that you can still lock components by doing this:

Select the components you would like locked.

In the channel box highlight the vertices.

Right-click and select Lock Selected.

So, I select the vertices. Then I go to the channel box to highlight them, and ... I don't see any vertices in there. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Tyler
