Problem with shadows using image texture

Hello and thank you in advance for your time.

I am currently modeling my first character in Maya and I am making the eyelashes using a plane that has an image for texture. The problem I have is that I can see the plane's shadow instead of the eyelashes'. Is there any way I can fix that? If not, what other alternatives would you suggest?

Sorry about that. In the first picture you can see on the left corner of the eye the shadow of the plane. Also you can see it on the eye's reflection.

Lambert>raytrace options>shadow attenuation......make it 0 not 500
