    <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi!&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The STEP format is, simply put, based on Nurbs and does not contain UVs.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Not sure why "Aruba Tessellation" creates UVs and "ATF Tessellation" not, but it doesn't matter, as usual you have to create new UVs or edit the UV mapping anyway.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hello. As the title when importing the step file with atf pluginin maya 2018 the imported mesh doen's have uv's The same import with Aruba tesselator preserve the uv's based to the original surface from CREO.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Does any one have this problem?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;not totally agree. The nurbs haven't the UV, but if you convert the nurbs in Poly the conversion create the uv based to the shape of the nurbs.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Importing an High detailed CAD file without UV is, uhhhhhhhhh........ a pain because with the&amp;nbsp;UVs based shape that helps a lot.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;So for the ATF step maybe a proceudre that create the UVs would be great.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;You are right that for initial UVs the original Nurbs surface can he helpful.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;But the UVs that the Aruba Tessellation creates look unusable to me.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;If you want this level of control i recommend to import as Nurbs (Tessellation objects set to "None") and then do the conversion inside Maya, but still then you only get a rudimentary UV map, but at least inside the range from 0 to 1.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
