Around 4 minutes in, he starts beveling and applies bridges between the shoulder/underarm and arm area.

Whenever I do it, the underarm area that becomes beveled always has some kind of trapezoid shape at the end of one side and two triangles at another, interfering with the bridging. It's clearly not totally symmetrical as I intended, but I don't know where I could have made a mistake, as I followed the instructions to a T.

I can try to take more screenshots, but for some reason I can't seem to attach the .mb file itself. I'm very new, so forgive me if there is anything I should know regarding that.

I'm a beginner user and I'm trying to follow a tutorial on modeling a human mesh. The only difference is that the video I'm following is using a male model while I am using a female model, but I figured the overall process would be the same.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spi4lGxnMZg

When I tried to bevel the edge riding along the side of the body like in the video, the beveling creates weird shapes at around the shoulder area. The shapes are also not symmetrical with the other side, in spite of having symmetry on.

I would appreciate any assistance.

Yeah modeling male or female character wont make it a lot different. Its hard to see the problem in the images, also at which time in the video he do the bevels? (iam not gonna watch it whole). The problem can be in your bevel set up or in topology, cant say. Please add more info.

So if you want the bevel to end without that "trapezoid" it has to be a closed edge loop or the ends of the edge has to end with the geometry. If you select an edge that ends in the another edge there will be your "trapezoid" on the ends. So, from the second print screen right top corner i can see that your bevel ended up before end of the polygons. Before bevel, check if you have selected the whole side edge to the end, and check if there is actually just one vertex at the end for no overlapping.

I discovered that there were overlapping vertices on one edge. Fixed everything by merging. Thank you very much for the assistance.
